The Vision of CPHIMA As the profession responsible for management of health information, CPHIMA strives to serve its members and those who create and utilize health information by:
The Values of CPHIMA Inherent in our vision for the CPHIMA are values, which will shape the actions we take to realize our Mission. Values are the core assumptions that are the foundation of our Mission.
CPHIMA Goals & Objectives While performing the routine business of the Association, the Board, Committees, and members are committed to taking appropriate action for achievement of the following goals and objectives. 1. SUSTAINING CPHIMA A. Be fiscally responsible. B. Identify opportunities for expanding CPHIMA membership C. Transition from manual to electronic technologies. D. Recruit vendors/sponsors for educational sessions. E. Identify and implement strategies to encourage volunteer participation. F. Identify and implement strategies to increase attendance at CPHIMA education sessions. (Proposed New Goal not identified at strategic planning session.) G. Recruit members to accept nomination to elected and appointed AHIMA, PHIMA and/or CPHIMA offices. 2008-2009 Objectives 1. Increase CPHIMA membership by at least 25% by a member-get-a-member incentive program and/or inviting other HIM related organization members or non-credentialled HIM professionals to join as Associate members. 2. Sign agreement with Knowledge Connex and begin development of new CPHIMA website. 3. Utilize list of vendors from 2008 PHIMA Annual Meeting to recruit new vendor sponsors for educational sessions and/or presenters for educational sessions. Committee Chairs should invite two new members to participate in their work to encourage more membership participation. 5. Investigate ways in which CPHIMA could better meet the needs of current or prospective members that would afford them opportunities to participate in education sessions and other CPHIMA activities. 6. Investigate costs and alternatives for CPHIMA to sponsor one social event (such as CPHIMA Day at Hershey Park or a social function at one of the quarterly education sessions) to provide opportunities for members and families to connect and interact and to strengthen relationships. 2. BUILDING AND SUSTAINING THE PROFESSION A. Through PHIMA, influence the development of new national definitions of HIM roles, practices, and membership models.
B. Through PHIMA, develop and implement stronger advocacy efforts to influence state and local legislation, regulations, and industry trends, which affect HIM professional practice.
C. Actively assist in the recruitment of individuals into the HIM profession.
D. Support and promote AHIMA’s initiatives and action plans at the regional level. E. Strengthen collaborative efforts with PHIMA and other HIM professional groups. F. Provide recognition and support of regional HIM education programs G. Promote the HIM profession. 2008-2009 Objectives 1. Participate in PHIMA Local President’s Conference Call in July to share and coordinate goals and plans of local associations with PHIMA. 2. Coordinate or participate in at least one career awareness event (such as the Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) state competition in Lancaster or the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) state conference in Hershey) or develop our own event to boost recruitment of individuals into the profession. 3. Provide financial or other support such as scholarships, loans, or graduation awards to the health information and/or coding certificate programs in the CPHIMA region. 4. Integrate CPHIMA web presence with PHIMA website and PHIMA activities. 5. Explore development of an HIM student mentoring program. 3. EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT A. Optimize electronic technology for educational and professional development B. Provide at least four economically sound continuing education sessions. C. Support Coding Roundtables. 2008-2009 Objectives 1. Through the planned new CPHIMA website, provide the membership with the ability to join the association, register for educational sessions, vote, and pay for such services electronically. 2. Offer one additional education session in an electronic format such as a webinar or teleconference for members who may not be able to attend regular education sessions but would still like to participate or who may need continuing education units. 3. Financially support three coding roundtables meetings in Central Pennsylvania. 4. COMMUNICATION/NETWORKING A. Expand alliances and collaborative efforts with related Central Pennsylvania professional groups that support our strategic mission, vision, and values. B. Publish the CPHIMA News Network (CNN) on a quarterly basis. C. Contribute to PHIMA’s Keystoner on a quarterly basis. D. Assure the CPHIMA website is current and complete. 2008-2009 Objectives 1. President shall appoint at least one CPHIMA member to investigate opportunities for alliances and collaborative efforts with HIM related groups such as the Technology Council, AAMT, AAPC, etc. or consider creating a new committee that would provide a collaborative link with other HIM related groups.
